There is no restrictive covenant , so you are able to practice anywhere at anytime if you leave. In fact, Dr. Bartell has his own practice ( 8 miles from the Hospital) where he sees about 5 hours worth of consults a week.
He stated that he is working on a faculty practice, where the main feeder/referrals would come from the hospital. So basically the hospital would set up a practice for you, there would be a 60/40 split. The hospital takes care of the entire practice and you make 60% of all of the revenue. The lowest consult would be at about $250hr- $550hr would be high. Dr. Bartell would help you develop this in the future if you would be interested. This would be in addition to your work at the hospital and you should be able to do it after you round on your patients. Again this is not mandatory, but the ability to build your practice within the system.
Relocation is from point A to point B, so it is a reimbursable expense and this is standard at WMC. Dr. Bartell stated that he will check to see if he can front load anything sign-on, relo, etc and should get back to me by Wednesday morning.
He seems very excited to get you on board and stated that he came in at the top offer that he can give you upfront. I personally have held off on presenting another physician this week, as the offer is yours if you are interested and I do not want to muddy the waters with other interviews.
