Summary:

The Regional Director of Clinical Education provides strategic leadership for nursing and interprofessional clinical education across a defined geographic region, while also serving as the local Director of Education for their assigned facility. This dual-role leader is responsible for advancing clinical education strategies that elevate patient care quality, foster professional growth, and ensure workforce readiness across multiple sites. The Regional Director collaborates with system, regional, and local leaders to align educational initiatives with organizational priorities, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices. They provide mentorship and oversight to other Directors of Education within the region, promoting consistency, innovation, and excellence in clinical learning environments. Through data-driven decision-making and a commitment to equity and continuous improvement, the Regional Director champions initiatives that enhance clinical outcomes, support clinical advancement, and build resilient, high-performing care teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Provides strategic direction and operational oversight for clinical education across multiple facilities within the region.
  • Mentors and supports local Directors of Education, fostering collaboration, consistency, and innovation in educational practices.
  • Facilitates regional alignment of onboarding, competency validation, continuing education, and leadership development programs.
  • Serves as a liaison between system-level education leadership and regional/local teams to ensure bidirectional communication and strategic alignment.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of nursing and interprofessional clinical education programs at the assigned facility.
  • Oversees local onboarding, orientation, and continuing education strategies to ensure clinical staff readiness and retention.
  • Partners with clinical leaders, educators, and academic affiliates to design and deliver innovative learning solutions tailored to local needs.
  • Directs regional and local competency validation processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory/accreditation standards.
  • Conducts regional workforce learning needs assessments and develops targeted, data-informed education plans.
  • Integrates adult learning principles, simulation, eLearning, and other modalities to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborates with system, regional, and local stakeholders to standardize curricula, share best practices, and align initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Participates in system-wide committees, task forces, and strategic planning efforts focused on clinical excellence and workforce transformation.
  • Monitors education effectiveness using performance metrics, competency data, and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Supports clinical leadership development and career progression pathways through structured programs, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Maintains current knowledge of clinical standards, accreditation requirements, and emerging trends in healthcare education.
  • Serves as a regional resource and consultant for clinical education, quality improvement, patient safety, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Has strong knowledge of adult learning theory, competency-based education, and clinical practice standards.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Master's degree in nursing, Education, or related field required
  • Doctorate preferred (DNP, EdD, PhD)

Experience

  • 5 - 7 years of nursing experience is required
  • 3 - 5 years of clinical education experience is required
  • 5 or more years in a leadership role is required
  • Experience in regional or system-level education program management strongly preferred

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • RN licensure in the state of employment is required
  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development (e.g., ANPD) or Clinical Education preferred

In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
