Join a busy hospital team in Richmond, Indiana, covering Emergency Medicine shifts on a locum tenens basis. You’ll work in a 220+ bed facility with a Level III trauma designation using Epic, supported by a full cardiology program, critical care, neurology, general surgery, orthopedics, and other specialty services. The ED team includes physicians, NPs, PAs, nursing staff, and ancillary support.
Assignment details
- Shift type: Clinical only (minimum 12 shifts or 108 hours per month)
- Coverage period: September 2026 – ongoing
- Specific blocks:
- Sept 16, 2026 (10:30 PM) – Sept 24, 2026 (7:30 AM)
- Oct 11, 2026 (10:30 PM) – Oct 20, 2026 (7:30 AM)
- Dec 10, 2026 (10:30 PM) – Dec 16, 2026 (7:30 AM)
Patient population & clinical scope
- All emergency department patients; case mix is general emergency medicine
- Admissions and phone consults as required
- Expected to manage critically ill and injured patients and respond to codes
Procedures you’ll be expected to perform
- Invasive and non-invasive ventilation (ETT/tracheostomy/NT, BiPAP/CPAP)
- Central and arterial line placement
- Chest tube insertion
- Temporary transvenous pacemaker placement
- Lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis
- Code response and stabilization
Credentials & compliance
- Hospital privileges required (credentialing typically 60–90 days)
- Active Indiana license preferred
- Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine (if not certified, must obtain certification within 5 years of residency completion)
- Active DEA
- BLS required; ACLS required for conscious sedation privileges
- COVID and flu vaccinations required
- Must complete order entry and time entry through the Vemsta platform
Systems & support
- EMR: Epic — document patient encounters and orders
- Specialty backup and full support services available on site
Compensation & logistics
- Rate: TBD
