Contract LPC Correctional Mental Health Counselor in Oshkosh, WI | $48.20/hr, ASAP 26-week

We’re seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor to join a correctional mental health team in Oshkosh, WI on a 26-week contract starting ASAP. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, working within a secure facility to support inmates’ mental health needs. The schedule runs mornings into early evening (approximately 7:30 AM–6:00 PM), and the pay is $48.20/hour.

What you’ll bring

• Active LPC license in Wisconsin.
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Experience in correctional, clinical, or community mental health settings is preferred.
• Strong crisis intervention and suicide risk-assessment skills.
• Comfort working effectively within a secure correctional environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

What you’ll do

• Perform mental health assessments, screenings, and diagnostic evaluations for inmates.
• Provide individual and group counseling using evidence-based interventions.
• Create, implement, and update individualized treatment plans.
• Respond to mental health crises, conduct suicide risk assessments, and help stabilize acute situations.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, security, and psychiatric staff.
• Keep timely, accurate clinical documentation that meets Wisconsin DOC standards.
• Join case discussions, treatment meetings, and contribute to program development.
• Teach coping strategies, behavior-management skills, and rehabilitation-focused education.
• Adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality rules, and facility safety protocols.
