Required credential
- Valid, active Speech-Language Pathologist state license.
Core responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing (dysphagia) disorders.
- Diagnose type and severity of communication and swallowing impairments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and patient goals.
- Provide direct therapy to address articulation, fluency, voice, receptive and expressive language, and swallowing function.
- Instruct patients and families/caregivers on strategies, exercises, and compensatory techniques for communication and swallowing management.
- Maintain accurate, timely patient documentation and progress notes.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate care and update treatment plans as needed.
