Job Summary:
HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital in Jacksonville is seeking a General Surgeon to lead our General Surgery Residency Program.
Qualified Candidates:
- Must be board certified by the American Board of Surgery
- Must meet the following Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements:
- Have at least three (3) years of prior and relevant clinical activity in practice
- At least three (3) years of prior GME administrative experience and formal academic appointments
- Documented scholarly activity within the past five (5) academic years such as peer reviews, research publications, review articles, peer-reviewed journals, textbook chapters, case reports or clinical series presentations at scientific society meetings, and participation in committees and educational organizations
- Be willing to combine clinical, administrative and teaching responsibilities
- Have strong administrative and team building skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Have a current, or be able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice in Florida - not subject to any restrictions, probationary terms or conditions
- No history of license to practice being revoked, restricted or suspended by any professional licensing agency in any state or jurisdiction
- Have current, unrestricted DEA registration
Responsibilities will include:
- Authority and accountability for the operation of the General Surgery residency program
- Development of curriculum, policies, and procedures for the program
- Maintaining ACGME accreditation and state approval
- Recruiting residents into the program and developing evaluation process for performance
- Participating in competency evaluations of residents
- Additional responsibilities to ensure program of excellence
- Strong, committed faculty team with deep experience and knowledge
- Oversight of Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), Program Evaluation Committee (PEC), Annual Program Evaluation (APE), development and monitoring of program action plan, Milestones, case logs, ADS updates, and Graduate Medical Education Committee reporting.
- Faculty development, core faculty engagement, and evaluation systems.
- Resident well-being, professionalism, supervision, and learning environment.
- Quality Improvement/patient safety integration and scholarly activity.
- Board pass performance and clinical competency outcomes.
