Required credentials
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
- BLS certification
Core responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care under the direction of RNs or physicians
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments; administer medications and prescribed treatments
- Monitor and document vital signs continuously
- Perform wound care: evaluate, clean, dress wounds; monitor for infection or complications
- Maintain accurate, timely patient records and communicate care plans
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and self-care
- Respond promptly in medical emergencies and follow infection control protocols
