Locum Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery APP Needed

We are seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) / Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide locum coverage with a Cardiovascular/Thoracic (CV/CT) Surgery team in Wisconsin.

Overview

• 24-hour in-house or home call may be required depending on facility and assignment needs
• Night, weekend, and holiday coverage
• Prior cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery experience required

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients
• Assist the CV/CT surgeon in the operating room during complex surgical procedures
• Perform and/or assist with saphenous vein harvesting
• Provide first-assist support during CABG and other cardiovascular surgical procedures
• Conduct preoperative evaluations and surgical consultations
• Perform daily rounds and monitor patients for changes in clinical condition
• Manage postoperative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients in ICU and step-down settings
• Evaluate and manage postoperative complications and escalate concerns appropriately
• Assist with chest tubes, pacing wires, drains, central lines, arterial lines, wound care, and other procedures within scope and privileges
• Assist with admissions, discharges, medication management, and patient/family education
• Respond promptly to urgent and emergent surgical issues
• Provide surgical coverage during periods of high census, surgeon availability, or service need
