Join a surgical team in Paducah, Kentucky, as a Locums Trauma/Acute Care Surgeon and help build a growing Trauma/ACS program while enjoying an excellent work–life balance. This full-time locums role is structured for 26 weeks per year, giving you extended blocks of protected time off without sacrificing full-time compensation.

What the schedule looks like

• 26 weeks per year
• Preferred block schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (flexible on longer or shorter blocks)
• Typical daily consults: ~1–2
• Average operative volume: ~1 case per day
• No APP support initially
• Emergency Department annual volume: ~39,680 visits
• Projected annual consults: ~492 (and rising)
• Projected annual operations: ~359 (and rising)

You’ll join an initial team of two surgeons and play a key role in shaping and expanding the Trauma/ACS service. You’ll manage trauma and acute care patients—providing consultations, operative care, and helping to develop protocols and program structure. The 26-week annual schedule gives you flexibility to step away from clinical duties for substantial stretches while maintaining steady income and clinical engagement when you are on service.

Qualifications we’re looking for

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Trauma/Acute Care Surgery or a closely related surgical specialty
• Proven experience managing acute care and trauma surgical patients
• Comfortable providing independent consultation and operative care
• Able to contribute effectively in a developing program
• Strong clinical judgment and clear communication skills
• Willingness to work a flexible block schedule
