Full-Time | Cardiac Surgery ICU | 3x13s | No Call
A nationally recognized cardiac surgery program in Hartford, Connecticut is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join its inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery and ICU team.
Opportunity Highlights:
- Inpatient Cardiac Surgery APP role
- Care for patients in an 18-bed Cardiac Surgery ICU, step-down unit, and floor settings
- Manage preoperative and postoperative cardiac surgery patients
- Provide care for advanced cardiac procedures, including heart transplants, ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, and TAVR
- Perform bedside procedures, including central venous line placement, arterial line placement, intra-aortic balloon pump removal, and related procedures
- Conduct patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and monitor clinical progress
- Support transitions of care between ICU, step-down, and floor settings
- Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, intensivists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
- Full-time schedule: 3 13-hour shifts
- Nights/rotating schedule with weekend and holiday rotation; permanent night positions available
- No call required

Candidate Requirements:
- Certified Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Connecticut license or eligibility
- 1+ years of relevant experience in cardiac surgery, critical care, or surgical settings preferred
- New graduates welcome to apply
- Interest in cardiac surgery, ICU care, advanced procedures, and high-acuity inpatient management
- Strong communication, teamwork, clinical judgment, and patient-care skills
