Locums Hospitalist Physician - Daytime 12-hr Shifts, Petoskey MI (Dec-Jun, Every-Other-Week)

We’re seeking a Board-Certified Hospitalist for a locum tenens assignment in Petoskey, MI. This hospital-based role focuses on daytime care for adult medical inpatients (non-ICU/CCU), managing both acute and chronic conditions and working closely with nursing and the broader care team to ensure smooth, safe hospital stays and discharges.

What you’ll do

• Provide daytime inpatient medical care for adult patients.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical issues.
• Create and adjust individualized treatment plans as patients progress.
• Coordinate care and discharge planning with nurses, consultants, and other team members.
• Document thoroughly and promptly in Cerner to support continuity of care.

Shift & coverage details

• Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (12-hour day shifts)
• Initial cadence: one shift every four weeks
• Schedule change: moving to every other week beginning in December
• Weekend coverage: required
• Coverage window: December 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027
• Practice setting: hospital-based; no ICU/CCU coverage required
• On-call: none specified
• EHR: Cerner

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Board certification in Internal Medicine or equivalent
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Active DEA registration
