Locum Tenens Cardiologist — Inpatient/Outpatient (Missoula, MT)

Join a busy cardiology team in Missoula, MT, providing inpatient and outpatient coverage on a locum tenens basis. This role is supplemental coverage starting ASAP and ongoing, with clinical duties plus call responsibilities.

What the schedule looks like

• Clinic: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (85% outpatient)
• Hospital: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (15% inpatient)
• Call: beeper coverage with 20-minute response time
  • Nights: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Weekends: 24-hour blocks (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.)

Patient mix and volume

• Adults only
• Non-invasive cardiology ~50%, Interventional ~30%, Electrophysiology ~20%
• Clinic volume: ~9–12 patients per day
• Hospital volume: ~10–20 patients per day
• Rounding is required

Practice environment and team

• You’ll join a group with 3 general cardiologists, 3 interventionalists, and 3 EPs
• Support staff includes 5 APPs (you will supervise APPs), 1 RN, 1 MA, and 5 office staff
• On-site services: lab, treadmill, echo, EKG, and cath lab
• Facility: 120 beds, 22-bed ICU, Trauma Level II
• EMR: Epic
• Number of exam rooms: 29

Procedures and responsibilities

• Perform and interpret echocardiography (including TEE), nuclear studies, and EKGs
• Provide cath lab coverage and interventional/EP care as needed based on mix
• Establish and manage patient follow-ups
• Supervise APPs and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team

Logistics and support

• Hospital privileges required
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered

Requirements

• Active Montana medical license or participation in the IMLC
• Board certified in Cardiology
• ACLS certified
