Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for our primary care practices in Northampton and Amherst, MA. This role balances active patient care (approximately 70% clinical) with administrative leadership (about 30%) to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care, support provider development, and advance practice improvement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Set and maintain clinical standards, quality metrics, and patient safety programs
  • Mentor, evaluate, and support providers; lead performance improvement efforts
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and oversee risk management and service recovery
  • Optimize workflows, staffing models, and care delivery processes
  • Lead population health and value-based care initiatives and payer program participation
  • Use EHR and data analytics to monitor outcomes, drive efficiencies, and inform clinical decisions
  • Improve patient experience and manage escalations

Compensation & benefits:

  • Salary range: $225,000–$275,000 (commensurate with experience)

Requirements:

  • MD or DO with an active Massachusetts medical license
  • Board certified or eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Minimum 5 years’ outpatient primary care experience
  • Prior experience as a Medical Director or lead physician with demonstrable leadership skills
  • Strong communication and team-building abilities
  • Experience in population health, practice transformation, or payer programs
  • Training or experience in leadership, quality improvement, or clinical informatics preferred
