Locums Trauma & Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Physician - Paducah, KY (26-Week Block Schedule)

Join a growing Trauma/Acute Care Surgery team in Paducah, Kentucky, on a full-time locum basis with a unique 26-weeks-per-year schedule that supports excellent work-life balance while delivering comprehensive trauma and acute care surgical services.

Role overview

• Provide surgical consultation and operative management for trauma and acute care patients as part of an initial two-surgeon team.
• Help establish and expand a developing Trauma/ACS program, contributing clinically and operationally to program growth.
• Independently manage consultations, operative cases, and perioperative care in a facility with an annual ED volume of approximately 39,680 visits.

Schedule and clinical volume

• Annual commitment: 26 weeks (preferred block schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off; alternative block lengths may be considered).
• Typical consults: ~1-2 per day; projected annual consults ~492 (expected to increase).
• Typical cases: ~1 operation per day; projected annual operations ~359 (expected to increase).
• No APP support initially.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Trauma/Acute Care Surgery or a related surgical specialty.
• Demonstrated experience managing acute care and trauma surgical patients.
• Comfortable providing independent surgical consultation and operative care.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a developing program.
• Willingness to work a flexible block schedule.
