Primary Care Medical Director (70% Clinician) - Lead Clinical Strategy, Quality & Population Health

Provide clinical leadership and oversight for primary care practices in Northampton and Amherst, MA. Maintain an active clinical practice (70%) and perform administrative/leadership duties (30%). Ensure high-quality, safe, patient-centered care while supporting providers, optimizing operations, and driving improvement.

Clinical/Administrative Split

• Clinical practice: 70%
• Administrative/leadership: 30%

Core Responsibilities

• Set and enforce clinical standards, quality, and patient safety protocols
• Mentor, evaluate, and support providers; lead performance improvement efforts
• Ensure regulatory compliance and oversee risk management and incident review
• Optimize care delivery through workflow, staffing model, and operational improvements
• Lead population health and value-based care initiatives, including payer program engagement
• Use EHR and data analytics to monitor outcomes, performance, and efficiency
• Oversee patient experience initiatives and service recovery processes

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $250,000-$300,000 plus bonuses

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO with active Massachusetts medical license or willingness to obtain one
• Board certified or eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• 2-5 years outpatient primary care experience
• Prior Medical Director or Lead Physician experience with demonstrated clinical leadership
• Strong communication skills
• Experience with population health, payer programs, or practice transformation
• Training or experience in leadership, quality improvement, or informatics preferred
