Job Description

Provide medical direction and attending physician coverage for local skilled nursing and long-term care facilities in Springfield, IL. Partner with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to deliver patient-centered care and provide clinical leadership and oversight within assigned facilities.

Key duties

  • Admit, evaluate, and manage post-acute and long-term care patients.
  • Oversee and collaborate with NP/PAs on care plans, medication management, and transitions of care.
  • Conduct onsite visits, documentation, and required medical record reviews.
  • Provide clinical guidance to facility staff and participate in care coordination and quality initiatives.

Schedule

  • Part-time; physicians typically cover each facility 1–2 days per week.
  • No fixed daily start/end times, no call, no overnight shifts.
  • Expect 18–25 visits per day.
  • Flexible scheduling to support work–life balance.
  • Company-provided iPad with LTE for documentation.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with unrestricted U.S. medical license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, PM&R, or Emergency Medicine.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • New graduates who are board-eligible and actively pursuing licensure encouraged to apply.
