Natividad Medical Center is a 172-bed hospital owned and operated by the County of Monterey. Natividad Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center and is the only teaching hospital on the Central Coast, through its affiliation with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Recognized nationally and internationally as a model program, Natividad’s Family Medicine Residency Program is postgraduate training for physicians specializing in family medicine. Natividad is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and is governed by a Board of Trustees, under the guidance of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.

Location & Lifestyle
Salinas is in central California about twenty minutes from the coast. Salinas is just an hour south of San Jose, less than 2 hours south of San Francisco, and twenty-five minutes northeast of Monterey. Salinas is in a very rich farming region that produces fruit and vegetables and is known as the “Salad Bowl of America” with over 80% of the lettuce grown in the United States is grown in the Salinas area.
The Monterey Peninsula has a Mediterranean climate that is cool and moderate. September is the warmest month of the year with an average daily temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit. December and January are the coolest months with an average daily temperature of 63 degrees. Salinas receives a little over 14 inches of rain a year.
While many employees live close to the hospital in Salinas, we have several other beautiful cities nearby where some of our employees choose to live. Natividad employees live all over Monterey County, as well as in Santa Cruz and San Jose. Choosing housing in the area really depends on your personal preferences: rent or buy, rural or urban, beach or inland. It’s all available within a 45-minute commute.
